SEGA MASTER SYSTEM
The Sega Master System or SMS was released in North America on June 1986 for a retail price of $200.00 USD. The Master System is a redesign of the Sega Mark III and Tonka was contracted to market the master system for Sega instead of competing directly with Nintendo.
The Master System played both cartridges and Sega Cards that had a lower price than the cartridge and held less memory. The Master System came Bundled with two controllers, a light gun and the game Hang-on/Safari Hunt. It also had the built in game Snail Maze that was accessed by pressing up on the control pad and holding the A & B buttons while turning on the system without any game cartridge.
