The original Playstation was released in the US on September 9,1995 for a retail price of $299.99 USD. The PlayStation was the brainchild of Ken Kutaragi otherwise known as "The Father of the Playstation".It was part of the fifth generation console competing against the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64.
